There’s a new arrival on our pre-order wall that we’ve been waiting to talk about: Orville Peck’s Mule, his fourth studio album and, by most accounts, his most personal one yet.
Where Peck’s earlier records leaned into the masked cowboy mystique, Mule pulls the curtain back. Following last year’s Appaloosa EP, the album works almost like a chronological journal of a year that reshaped his life: the collapse that comes with addiction, the hard climb toward sobriety, and the slow, uncertain work of putting a life back together. It’s not a comfortable listen in the easy sense, but it’s an honest one, and Peck folds in real humor and compassion alongside the rawness. Musically it wanders through classic country storytelling, bluegrass picking, and wide open Americana, which feels right for an album about rebuilding from the ground up.
This one’s arriving as an Indie Exclusive pressing on clear tan vinyl, and if you know us, you know we’re suckers for a good colorway that actually matches the mood of the record. Tan feels right here: dusty, worn in, a little sun bleached, like something you’d find in a saddlebag rather than a record store bin.
