Billy Strings So Much For Goodbyes Indie Exclusive Sun Core vinyl pre-order at The Poet's Vault

Billy Strings Gets Personal on ‘So Much For Goodbyes,’ Pressed on Sun Core Vinyl

Billy Strings has never been shy about digging into the hard stuff, but So Much For Goodbyes might be his most personal record yet. Due out August 28th, the bluegrass phenom’s fifth studio album is dedicated to his late mother, Debra Apostol, whose own artwork graces the cover. Produced alongside T Bone Burnett, the 16 track set trades some of his usual barn burning solos for something quieter and more reflective, a record about grief, memory, and the strange work of saying goodbye.

The lead single, “Burn the Other End,” was co-written with Paul Hoffman of Greensky Bluegrass, and if it’s any indication, this album leans into the songwriting side of Strings’ catalog as much as the picking. That’s not a bad thing. The guy’s earned the right to slow down and tell a story, and by all early accounts this one hits hard.

We’re carrying the Indie Exclusive pressing on Sun Core vinyl, a warm orange toned pressing only available through independent shops like ours. If you’ve been following Billy Strings since the jam band crowd started sneaking into bluegrass festivals, you know his vinyl doesn’t sit on the shelf long. Pre-orders like this one tend to sell through fast, especially on a color variant tied to a record this personal.

Charlotte’s bluegrass and jam scene runs deep, and we’ve watched Billy Strings go from opening slots to headlining amphitheaters over the last few years without losing what made him great in the first place. He can flat out play, and he’s not afraid to write something true. So Much For Goodbyes sounds like an artist growing into that reputation rather than resting on it.

Swing by the shop or grab your copy online. We’ll have it in stock the day it drops, but the Sun Core Indie Exclusive pressing is limited, so don’t wait until release day if you want to guarantee a copy. Pre-order now and we’ll have it ready for you on August 28th.
